Connect a Facebook Page’s Messenger: customers message the Page and operators reply from the shared inbox on its behalf. This method does not connect a personal Messenger profile.

    Before you connect

    • A Facebook account with access to manage the correct Page.
    • For manual setup: a Meta app, Page ID, Page Access Token and App Secret, plus a Verify token you choose.

Open the correct workspace in Chatva → Channels → the channel card → Connect. On first connection, use Next to go through the introductory steps. In the mobile app, the same guide is available during onboarding and under Channels.

    Choose your connection method

    Connect through Meta

    1. Press Connect through Meta if available

Sign in to the correct Facebook account in the opened window. If the web dashboard shows credential fields instead, follow manual setup below.

    2. Select the intended Page and approve messaging

Select the Page your team will reply from. Grant access only to the relevant Page for predictable selection.

    3. Return to Chatva and check the account name

After authorization, open the channel and confirm the intended Page was connected. In the mobile app, return from the browser window to Chatva.

If you use your own Meta app

Prepare the Page ID and Meta app credentials, then save them in Chatva and set up incoming messages through a webhook.

Find the Page ID and credentials in Meta

Use this section when manually connecting your own Meta app. If Connect through Meta is available, authorization supplies the connection details; you do not need to create an app or collect credentials manually.

    1. Open your Meta app

Open Meta for Developers → My Apps and select the app that will handle your Page’s messages. Open Messenger → Settings. Depending on the dashboard version, Messenger setup may appear inside the app’s use case.

    2. Add the Page and generate a Page Access Token

In the token section, select Add or remove Pages, sign in with an account allowed to manage the intended Page’s messages and grant access to it. Then select Generate token beside that Page. Copy its Page Access Token into Chatva’s Page token field. Meta’s official guide documents the Messenger → Settings token flow.

    1. Copy the numeric Page ID

Use the selected Page’s ID, not the App ID at the top of the dashboard. If Messenger settings do not show it, open Graph API Explorer, select your app, add pages_show_list and pages_messaging, then choose Generate Access Token. Grant access to the intended Page, keep GET selected, enter me/accounts and press Submit. Find the response object with your Page’s name: id is its Page ID and access_token is its Page token. Meta documents this method. Keep the response containing the token private.

    2. Find App Secret in the app settings

In the same Meta app, open App settings → Basic. Select Show beside App secret, complete any verification Meta requests and copy it into Chatva’s App Secret field. This is a separate app credential; neither the Page ID nor the Page token replaces it. See Meta’s basic settings guide.

App Secret is under App settings → Basic. The secret is hidden in the source image; the example App ID has also been covered. Meta dashboard screenshot from Chatwoot documentation.

    1. Fill the four fields in the web dashboard

Enter Facebook Page ID, Page Access Token, Verify token and your Meta app’s App Secret. Page ID is not a profile URL or username.

    2. Copy the URL and save the connection first

Copy the webhook URL from Chatva and press Connect. Chatva cannot verify your Verify token until it has been saved.

    3. Subscribe to messaging in Meta

In your Meta app’s webhook settings, enter Chatva’s URL and the same Verify token. Verify the URL and enable the messages subscription for the appropriate Page and product. Check the app’s send and receive permissions.

Test an incoming message and a reply

    1. Write from a different account

Send “Connection test” to the Facebook Page in Messenger. Use a different account to test an incoming customer message.

    2. Find the conversation in Chatva

Open the correct workspace’s Inbox and check the channel and sender. If an assignee or status filter is active, switch to all conversations.

    3. Reply from the inbox

Send “Message received” and confirm on the customer’s side that it arrived from the correct number, bot or page. Connection status alone does not confirm two-way delivery.

    Connection scope

This channel receives private messages. Comments, reviews and mentions are not conversations for this connection. Reply availability depends on Meta permissions and rules; test with a new customer message.

    Troubleshooting

    What happenedWhat to check
Meta does not show the correct PageCheck the Facebook account and its Page permissions. Sign in again using the correct account.
Webhook verification failsSave the form in Chatva before verifying the URL. Meta and Chatva must use the same Verify token. App Secret is a separate app credential.
Connected but messages do not arriveCheck the messages subscription, app permissions and real-user access in Meta. Then send a new message from another account.
